Welcome friends and special guests, and thank you for coming to Arts in Motion 2026!
We are so excited to be gathered here today to showcase some of Alberta’s most talented youth and young adult performers. For over 100 years, the Calgary Stampede has brought the uniqueness of many different families, communities and cultures together through the core ideals of western heritage and values.
Today we are situated on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Piikani, Kainai), Tsuut’ina, and Îyâxe Nakoda (Bearspaw, Chiniki, Goodstoney) First Nations. Calgary is also Métis Nation of Alberta Districts 5 and 6. These lands have always been a gathering place, and we are proud to continue that tradition.
By creating programs and places for youth to thrive, the Calgary Stampede Foundation creates motivated and engaged young Calgarians, empowered to do amazing things. It is with this theme in mind that the Calgary Stampede Showband and the Alberta Marching Arts Association combine efforts for a fantastic afternoon of Winter Guard, Winter Percussion, and Winter Winds performances.
