Campus Operations Meeting - October/November 2025

Safety Moment

  • Needles - If you find a needle, syringe, or any other sort of drug paraphernalia, do not pick it up.

  • Call Stampede Dispatch (403-261-0595) and they will come and take away the items using gloves, tongs, and a bucket.

  • This is top of mind because Stampede School recently had a student pick up a needle that they found near Sweetgrass Lodge.

Calgary Arts Academy Venue Guidelines

  • We have written out all of the guidelines that all users of Calgary Arts Academy must adhere to: Calgary Arts Academy Venue Guidelines

  • There are some new rules that have not been mentioned before, so be sure to read the document thoroughly.

General Updates & Meeting Discussions:

  • Fall Sam Centre hours: Thursday-Sunday from 10am-5pm.

  • There are new booking request forms on the portal. Click to book spaces, and the link will take you to a new form.

  • Sam Centre field trips will start again on November 17.

  • Future meetings - Campus Operations meetings will typically take place on the first Wednesday of each month, around 2:30pm. The December meeting will take place on a different day, due to scheduling conflicts with Young Canadians and the Showband.

  • Road Closures - there will be a crane what will slowly move around the perimeter of the new arena construction zone. Road closures will be based on the movement of the crane.

  • TAPAS heat - Campus Ops is aware that there are heating issues in TAPAS, with the temperature fluctuating between too cold and too hot.

  • Everyone should take their shoes off upon entering TAPAS.

  • In case of a fire or emergency, TAPAS guests will be able to walk to CAA or Sam and won’t be outside in the cold for too long.

  • Discussed lockdowns and violence response in TAPAS. In case of a violent emergency, Campus advise is to lock the doors and shelter in place.

  • November 19, 21, 22, 27, 28, and 29 - OffBookish’s production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” musical in Doherty Hall

  • November 22 - Trico Free Day at Sam Centre

  • November 22,23 - Spiritus in CAA all day

  • November 23 - Sam Centre Speaker Series: John Whittaker and his book about George Lane

  • November 24- December 5 - CAA gym is not bookable

  • November 26 - Business Services & Finance Huddle in TAPAS Optimist Lounge

  • December 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10 - Sam Centre Field Trips

  • December 6, 7 - Stetsons in CAA all day
