Campus Operations Meeting - May 2025

Invitees: Stampede Campus, Sam Centre, Young Canadians, Stampede Showband, Band of Outriders, Sam Education, Oliver House, Calgary Fiddlers, Maisie Eatery, Calgary Arts Academy

This meeting is intended to provide a high-level overview of upcoming events and activities, ensuring that everyone is on the same page regarding key updates. While we aim to cover essential topics, we understand that some items may require more detailed discussion. For those instances, we encourage separate conversations outside of this meeting to ensure we can stay focused and respect everyone’s time.

 If an issue arises during the meeting that requires deeper discussion, we’ll set it aside for the end of the meeting. At that point, those directly involved can stay to work through the details, while others are free to continue with their day.

HIGH Fitness Fundraiser

  • Saturday May 10 - 8:30-10:30am

  • 25 guests

  • Was planned for Maisie but will take place on Enbridge Plaza and then guests will visit Maisie after

CS New Food Event

  • Wednesday May 14 - 10:00-2:00pm

  • Taking place on Enbridge Plaza

  • Will include multiple food trucks

  • 70 guests, including media

  • Field trips have been advised to avoid using the plaza during this time

Trico Free Day

  • Saturday May 17 - 10:00am-5pm

  • Sam Centre

Post-Marathon Fundraiser – Autism Aspergers Friendship Society

  • Sunday May 25 - 10:00am-3:00am

  • 300 guests

  • BMO Amphitheatre, Enbridge Plaza - Food trucks & beer garden  

Calgary Marathon

  • Saturday May 24 & Sunday May 25

  • Expect significant road closures

  • Marathon starts at GMC Stadium. Ends at Enmax Park

  • Go to https://www.racepoint.ca/maps/calgary.html to select the date and time when you would like to see road closures

  • This map does not include construction related road closures (Flores LaDue Parade or anything that may occur on 1213, or 14 Ave SE

Young Canadians

  • Sunday June 1 - 9:00am-5:30pm

Calgary Round-Up Band

  • Thursday June 5 - 11:30am-5pm

  • Post School Patrol Day Picnic at Heritage Park

  • TransAlta Performing Arts Studio and all outdoor spaces

Western Canada High - Solo Recitals

  • Saturday June 7 - 9:00am-8:00pm

  • Doherty Hall

  • We have promised them that we will not have any outdoor music practice on Stampede Campus for that entire day

2025 Calgary Stampede Presidents Event

  • Thursday June 12 - Saturday June 14 - 8:00am-10:30pm

  • Actual event is taking place at Sam Centre and Maisie on the evening of June 14

  • A tent will be going up in Enbridge Plaza beginning on June 12

Other Important Notes

New Grass

  • New grass is being planted on the green spaces next to TransAlta Performing Arts Studio

  • We will not book any events on those lawns for a minimum of 1 month, ideally longer

  • Showband is therefore practicing at WIC instead

HVAC

  • A new rooftop HVAC system is being installed at TransAlta Performing Arts Studio

  • A crane will be on-site and in the parking lot on Tuesday May 13

  • Electricity will stay on in the building and we do not require that all staff and guests leave the building

  • There may be limited air circulation until the project is complete

  • Air conditioning should be fully available in the building by Tuesday May 20, if everything goes according to schedule

  • Please use caution around the crane
