The Calgary Stampede is situated on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Piikani, Kainai), Tsuut’ina, and Îyâxe Nakoda (Bearspaw, Chiniki, Goodstoney) First Nations. Calgary is also Métis Nation of Alberta Districts 5 and 6. These lands have always been a gathering place, and we are proud to continue that tradition.

Meet the Bands
Young Canadians Novice Program
Folks, get ready to welcome an exciting new chapter in the Young Canadians School of Performing Arts! Established in 2025, the Novice Young Canadian program is the newest addition to this incredible legacy—designed to inspire, train, and empower the next generation of rising stars. These talented young performers, ages 8 to 14, have been building a strong foundation in vocal, dance, and performance under the guidance of the outstanding Young Canadian faculty. And tonight, you are about to see the very first group to take the stage in this brand-new program.
Calgary Round Up Band
Known for their youthfulness, energy, and spirit, the Calgary Round-Up Band is one of Canada’s oldest junior marching bands recognized by their iconic blue, black, and white uniforms. Formed in 1956 by Calgary Police Services as the Calgary Schools Safety Patrol Band, the Calgary Round-Up Band has entertained audiences from Europe to Australia and throughout North America. Inspired by the pursuit of excellence, self-discipline, and fun, generations of community youth have shared their musical talents together. The program showcases the very best of motivated and engaged community youth in grades 6 through 9. This year the Calgary Round-Up Band is proud to be celebrating their 70th Anniversary!
Red Deer Royals
Numbering 78 members and now celebrating their 57th year, the Red Deer Royals are “Central Alberta’s World Class Marching Show Band”. The members of the Royals are between the ages of 12 and 21 and come from several communities surrounding the Red Deer area. Over the past 57 years, the Royals have developed an award-winning program entertaining crowds locally and internationally. In addition to being an accomplished marching band, the Royals have a strong symphonic band tradition and an outstanding color guard. Music performance is only part of the Royals: a strong leadership program that fosters teamwork, respect and a sense of pride is also developed. In 2023 the Royals traveled to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island to perform for audiences in events such as the Charlottetown Pride Parade, the largest parade in the province.
Band Of Outriders
Band of Outriders is an energetic, forty-piece ensemble, comprised of Calgary Stampede Showband alumni and other community musicians. Members have performed at diplomatic events, weddings, and for raucous crowds in football stadiums and rodeo arenas. As Stampede ambassadors, Band of Outriders extend their musical version of western hospitality to local crowds and thousands of Calgary visitors every day during the annual Stampede, with an average of 70 appearances during the 10 day event.
Sound of the Rockies
Sound of the Rockies High School Marching Band is a dynamic performing ensemble from Our Lady of the Rockies High School here in Calgary Alberta. Its students are all high school aged with performance experience in the band ranging from beginner to 4 years of playing and dancing! Sound of the Rockies has had the privilege of performing all over the world since 1988 when the first marching band was started at the school and has been entertaining audiences ever since. Each year, Sound of the Rockies High School Marching Band performs several well known and loved high octane classic songs as well as some originally composed music! The band is proudly supported by Our Lady of the Rockies High School, Calgary Catholic School District and our hard-working volunteer parents that make up the Sound of Rockies Parent Association.
Stetson
Formed in 1988, the Calgary Stetson Show Band is a marching show band for senior high school students. In their unique black and gold uniforms, the band proudly represents Calgary, Alberta and Canada, with entertaining performances. The Stetson Show Band provides young Albertans with the excitement and challenge of a dynamic marching band with the aim to develop well rounded young performing artists. The band actively performs year-round at parades, field shows, and marching performing arts activities traveling annually to destinations in both North America and around the world.
Showband.ch
The Swiss marching band showband.CH is a music project aimed at musicians aged 16 and over. Since 2006, the association "showband.CH" has been pursuing the idea of traditional Canadian-American marching bands. Showband.CH has been revitalizing the Swiss parade music scene with fresh ideas . Sophisticated formations combining music, rhythm, and dance surprise and enchant audiences on national and international stages.
Calgary Stampede Showband
For Showband: Founded in 1971, the Calgary Stampede Showband proudly serves as the musical ambassador of the Calgary Stampede. With over 150 performers aged 16–22, the band is internationally recognized and performs nearly 200 times each year. The Showband is uniquely versatile, delivering everything from concerts and parades to field shows, special events, and their signature performance on the BMO Grand Staircase during the Calgary Stampede. Most recently, the Showband was awarded the title of International Champions at the 2025 Drum Corps International Championships in Indianapolis, becoming the first International Class group in history to advance to Semi-Finals. Members and staff champion western heritage and values while pushing the boundaries of innovative performance art. The Showband program develops young performers into confident, skilled musicians and athletes. Through dedication and hard work, members build artistry, discipline, and the drive for excellence both on and off the field. The Showband is a very diverse performing ensemble, with performance types ranging from standstill performances, parades, field show competitions, and special events. The Showband members and staff are proud promoters of western heritage and values, and are committed to a high level of innovative performance art.
